Course Reflective Narrative Masterpieces of hispanic literature is the first literature course that I completed at CSUMB.This course allowed me to fulfill MLO 3, I developed my literary and cultural knowledge. The literature that I analyzed in this course was all from Spain, this was a new experience for me. In high school I only had the opportunity to analyze literature from latin american writers. The fact that this literature was new to me made it evely more interesting. I really enjoyed reading this type of literature, because not only I read the texts but I was able to learn about the Spaniard culture. This class gave me the opportunity to learn about the history from Spain because when it comes to literature it is important to learn about the historic context. Most of the times there is a strong connection between the historic context and the literary work. Learning about the historic context gives the reader an idea of the meaning of the literary work. Through this course I gained literary knowledge as well as cultural knowledge. It is fundamental to know the culture of the writers, it gives the reader the correct perspective to analyze and understand the literary work of the author. For this class I wrote an analysis of the romantic Drama “Don Juan Tenorio”, for this project I had to identify the literary genre, the characters and literary devices. The feedback that I received from the professor helped me improve my skills to analyze a literary text.
