Course Reflective Narrative This course started my interest in Spanish linguistics. This course fulfills major learning outcome 2 and 6. This course developed my knowledge about Hispanic linguistics and research and technology. In this class I learned about morphology and phonology, this terms were new to me at the begging of this course but at the end I learned a lot. As a final project I had to research about the linguistic variation of Andalusia, Spain. This final project gave me the opportunity to fulfill MLO 6. I was able to use appropriate technology in research studies relative to Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. This project helped me to learn about the linguistic variation people from Andalusia speak. Since I was going to study abroad in this region of Spain for the next semester the professor encouraged me to do the research about this place. This project helped me to be more prepared for what was waiting for me in Spain. The presentations that my classmates did helped me to learn from other countries and other regions of Spain. The professor also taught us accentuation rules and encouraged us to learn them to improve our writing skills. Moreover the professor taught us the roots of the words, he taught us the importance of learning the prefix and suffix of words. This course definitely develop my knowledge in the fields of Hispanic and applied linguistics. In this course I learned that it is important to know that not all Spanish speakers talk the same, the language varies by country and region. In conclusion this course developed my love and interest about linguistics. Language is more complex than one may think, it is very important to learn about linguistics variations. The content of this course relates to SPAN 315 because as Professor Zapata taught me, when it comes to translation it is very important to know where your audience is from in order to give the correct translation. Therefore learning about linguistic variations within the Spanish language is useful for a better translation and communication.
